Community Christmas Hamper Campaign

Chalmers-Wesley is a proud member of the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign. This committee organizes, raises funds and collects food and toys for generous Christmas Hampers which are then delivered to more than two hundred needy families in and around Quebec City. The committee is co-ordinated through the Jeffery Hale's Community Services in English (formally the Holland Centre) and is made up of members from about twelve local churches, and other interested civic organizations.  All told, over 100 volunteers sort and pack groceries, wrap gifts and deliver hampers just in time for Christmas.

Along with donations of non-perishable food, we have provided toys for disadvantaged children at Christmas through the Snowflake Giving program. Our mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys, ranging in price from $10 to $30, and distribute them to needy children with their family's Christmas Hamper. Our goal is to deliver a message of hope to youngsters that will motivate them to become responsible, productive, citizens who have learned the true meaning of charity and giving. Our objective is to help disadvantaged children in our community to experience the joy of Christmas and play an active role in their development. The campaign unites members of our community organisations in a common cause and contributes to building a better community.

If you belong to an English-speaking church in the Quebec City area and would like to donate a new toy to the Snowflake Giving Tree Program, please ask your Pastor/Minister/Priest to find out how you can receive a Snowflake. In November, your church will have paper snowflakes that state the age and gender of a child in need. You take a snowflake from your church's Snowflake Giving Tree, buy a toy appropriate to the age and gender of the child and return it to your church by December 9th, 2007.
