Special Services
We have a variety of special services throughout the year .
Every year we participate in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Special services are conducted at various local churches during the week and a hymn sing is conducted for the residents of St. Brigid's Home. We are active on the World Day of Prayer planning committee and look forward to participating in the service every year.
Every year we take part in a bilingual, ecumenical Good Friday Walk of the Cross. The service starts at Chalmers-Wesley and, with the participation of église unie Saint-Pierre, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian and the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, we process with the Cross from Chalmers-Wesley to St. Andrew’s, ending at the Cathedral. For those who like to rise early, there is an Easter Sunrise Service at Clarke's Bridge in Valcartier. We gather before sunrise and light our paschal candle from the new fire as the sun rises.
On the first Sunday in July, we celebrate Canada Day with a special service honouring our country. We always have a great time with fun and fellowship at our pot luck lunch following the service. In September, just after Labour Day, we re-gather our community after the summer holidays with our Rally Day Service. This is a special time to rededicate ourselves to the mission of the church and community. At our Thanksgiving Service in October we celebrate our agrarian roots. In November we honor those who made the supreme sacrifice to bring peace to our country during our Remembrance Day Service.
